Of the 85 contestants in their gorgeous formal dresses we saw a good deal ( 39! ) sporting the color of the season - champagne! Warm touches of gold shimming in finely crafted beaded appliques and subtly warm ivory chiffon taking on the hues of the nearby light just make this color scheme a breathtaking choice. Of course, it seems most people know that already as nearly half of the pageant was wearing it in some form or another.
Shown above is Serbia in a structured bodice with flared peplum and fitted miniskirt.
The romantic red cocktail dress featured a dramatic long train that followed behind her.

A close second for these fashion forward models was shades of red. About 16 girls were sporting a bold "come hither" shade that were not to be overlooked! Several other contestants were wearing similar tones of magenta and orange that also resonated with this color family. A classic red will never go out of style. It is as timeless as a chic black dress and the glamour of old hollywood!
Recently we have been picking up some sexy hi-low styles like what Serbia was sporting for our own long island prom shop. Our most popular has been a crystal pink barbie like dress with it's overskirt made from a semi-sheer tulle. Light as air! We posted this cute picture of our customer on our instagram recently wearing it!
Overall, if we had to give you our fashion forecast for the 2013 prom fashion season based on the Miss Universe Pageant we would say you need to try on some nude/champagne/gold dresses and avoid greens and prints like the plague! There was only ONE printed dress this year and it certainly stood out like a sore thumb amongst all the other red carpet couture dress. Sorry, Panama!
